Get Off the Hamster Wheel. Get Connected.
Let Your Value Be the North Star.
I heard you’re frustrated. Job search stalled. Feels like you’re stuck...
...reacting to the latest job, that starts the hamster wheel: Spot new job, move fast, tailor resume, complete (long) application, submit, now wait, tap, tap…
Wait, now wait. Where’d that job go?
Yup. Another one gone, into the void, hit repeat, start again.
Sound familiar?
That’s not a stalled search. That’s going through the motions with hope at the wheel.
And deep down, you already know it’s often wasted energy.
Take a new path:
→ 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁.
You’re laser-focused on the one job title, but opportunity hides different places. What other names do companies use for your function? What do startups call it? What adjacent positions share its function?
Take sales pros. Yes, of course, Sales Executive. That works well but dig deeper. There’s Business Development, Account Executive, Account Manager, Client Partner, Revenue Architect, Growth Agent, GTM. Not all identical, but core anchor skills, different packaging.
Do the research. Ask around. Explore your expertise as a new label. Now new options.
→ 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.
You’re sitting on a goldmine. Head to LinkedIn’s Data Privacy settings, download your data, takes < 24 hours, grab your contacts, the connections.csv file.
Who from your network landed at your target companies? Which former colleagues now hold the title you’re chasing? Who pivoted into something intriguing that you hadn’t considered?
Craft genuine, curious reconnection messages. Not “I’m looking for a job” but “I saw you’re at [Company]. I’d love to hear about it.” Low effort, high impact, surprisingly enjoyable.
Pro tip: Sort by company, title, location. Feed it into AI and ask for the top 20 people you should reconnect with for career conversations.
→ 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
Stop stating what you do. Start describing how you deliver value.
Every role has a purpose - deliver a solution, solve a challenge, or create value. That’s your real currency, your value in the job market.

When someone asks what you do, you could say ‘I write documents’ or ‘I’m a proposal writer’ or ‘I help companies win $150M+ in federal contracts each year’ All accurate. Only one packs a punch and delivers impact.
𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿.
Value is the message that makes hiring managers lean in instead of scroll past.
These three strategies work in concert, create a system, generate momentum.
Stop the apply-wait-repeat hamster wheel. Start the look-target-connect-landing sequence.
